Hermans on the Hacienda
We've lived on our small Fallbrook farm almost 20 years. Our family has experienced many wonderful things like raising farm animals, being involved in many 4H programs, marching in the high school band and Christmas parade, soccer, community theatre, dance, harvesting and selling our beloved Avocados at farmer's markets and the Avocado Festival. We chose Fallbrook for its small town country atmosphere. It is one of the best decisions we ever made.
Fast forward to 2017. Our daughters have given us 5 grandchildren who love exploring the wonders of the farm. Our son is following in his father's and grandfather's path of serving his Country for the Greater Good.
THE BEGINNING After certifying our property, we launched Hacienda Avocados at Fallbrook's Avocado Festival in 2001. The girls ran an Avocado pit toss game together next to our booth. Rick, our son and I sold Hass and Fuerte Avocados along with bags of Oro Blanco Grapefruits. Our son was just starting to learn the concept of money and making change. After selling fruit all day along with his Dad, he became an expert! It was a lot of fun and a huge success for our family.
From that time until 2005, Hacienda Avocados participated in the Fallbrook, Oceanside and Temecula Farmer's Markets, several festivals such as consecutive Farmer and Adele, Fallbrook Avocado Festivals, Carlsbad Festival, Temecula Balloon & Wine Festival, as well as various holiday boutiques in the area.
TRANSITION In 2011, Hacienda Avocados was renamed Yolie's Avos and Gifts to include fruit inspired treasures and Rick's woodworking specialties such as laminated
cutting boards and cheese spreaders with wood holding blocks.
FIRE Two years later, our trees were affected by drought and excessively hot winds fueled by a local fire. Since we had to stump some and heavily prune all the trees, the Avocados and Pomegranates had an alternate 2014 season, a time for rest and re-energizing.
REBIRTH 2015/16 Avocado season produced a beautiful crop. The Fuertes were stellar that year, many 9 oz. even a few 16oz.! We were blessed to have sold out. Our Hass season was amazing as well, picking fruit until July.
2017/18 I believe our fruit was ready earlier than the release dates this year. So we have larger fruit sooner - a good thing. Thank you, God, for our El Nino last winter that gave us a great crop this year.
We hope you find something unique at Yolie's Avos and Gifts. We are focused on providing high-quality service and customer satisfaction - we will do everything we can to meet your expectations.
